LLYN ALAW SSSI
This shallow drinking water
reservoir was built in the 1960s over the former peatland of Cors y Bol
and now constitutes Angelsey's largest lake, supporting various
waterfowl. The draw-down zone around the perimeter supports a number of
interesting plants including needle spike rush and pillwort. There
is a visitor centre at the western end near the dam from where a
recreational trout fishery operates. There was formerly a common tern
colony at the eastern end of the lake..
