ARFORDIR GOGLEDDOL PENMON SSSI
NORTH PENMON COAST SSSI

The north coast of the Penmon peninsula displays steep limestone cliffs with rich intertidal and subtidal marine life in the rockpools and crevices. At Fedw Fawr and Bryn Offa, areas of coastal heath are found with interesting areas of acid and alkaline plants - heathers and rockrose - in close association. Also here are small areas of limestone grassland, full of lesser butterfly orchid, and ladies tresses. Alongside the cormorants, watch for black guillemot loafing just offshore. Patience will often reveal porpoise out at sea. Access is difficult to much of this coast, both because of the topography and the resistance of some landowners, though the public can wander over Fedw Fawr common and access the shore there and at Trwyn Du (Penmon Lighthouse).
