TRWYN DWLBAN SSSI
Ancient carboniferous limestone
landform, known as "karst" terrain, is preserved in fossil form by a
series of sandstone pipes filling former solution hollows on the beach
platform. More recent glaciation is revealed by scatches caused by
rocks in the ice-sheet - visible on recently exposed rock at the base
of the soft cliffs which themselves reveal a pattern of glacial
deposition. A fascinating, mulit-layered geological treasure.
Access is best from the beach - at low tide!
